A quote from none other than Mr. America-hater Michael Moron.
And yes, he was talking about Americans. Maybe he's talking about the sheep who buy into his BS,

Did you know that Moore charged the families of the Columbine tragedy admission for a screening of Bowling for columbine in Littleton?

This site is kinda funny and maybe a little extreme, but there are some very valid points on it.

Does he even know who Richard Clarke is?

And he calls other Americans stupid!

Now even Ray Brdbury is pissed at him for ripping his title off.

    Remember Farenheight 451?

Apparently Micheal Moore does and sused a mockery of it as the title to his latest extra long roll of toilet paper.

Bradbury is apparently not too happy to be associated with this even though he really isnt.

Considering some of the opinions I've seen on this board it's pretty easy to see why someone might think that american's are stupid.

What was the context of the quote?

OK, I think I found the source of the quote:

It was in an interview for the Mirror

    Source

and the quote in context is:

Take his description of his fellow countrymen and their blind pursuit of the American Dream: "They are possibly the dumbest people on the planet... in thrall to conniving, thieving, smug pricks.

"We Americans suffer from an enforced ignorance. We don't know about anything that's happening outside our country. Our stupidity is embarrassing. National Geographic produced a survey which showed that 60 per cent of 18-25 year olds don't know where Great Britain is on a map. And 92 per cent of us don't own a passport."
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Kinda takes on a bit of a different spin when read in it's entirety.

CincyG, where'd you get it? Newsmax?

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">How do I respond to this without offending everyone. I can't so I will say it: This quote is absolutely 100% true. While there are exceptions, we, as a nation, are lucky we can walk and chew bubblegum at the same time.

You think I was kidding when I made my tongue in cheek comment in another thread about most Americans thinking that Germany still had a king. It's true. I watched it on TV about 8 years ago. They interviewed some woman from middle <s>earth</s> America and asked her about WWII. She also didn't know WWII was over. True story! I was embarassed.

So you in fact agree that he is also calling himself and the idiots who believe his garbage stupid as well?

Maybe I'd go see his film if it didn't mean demeaning myself to look like some drone who can't function or think for myself.

Moore isn't a champion of the people, he's not even a contender.

It's kinda funny. If Kerry actually does get into office, he's gonna have to make documentaries about one of his own.

I might be first in line for that.

Talk about 1 sided. Moore goes through life with blinders on.
There are never two sides to anything when it comes to Moore.
Remember he is a person who makes around $40,000 per personal appearance and demands evian water (and only evian). He's exactly what he bitches about.
